Congratulations to 1st year MFA student Ken Shalem, from Isreal. At the Sarasota Film Festival last weekend he was awarded a $1,000 Dr. John Welsh Scholarhip! He attended the awards ceremony as well as many other festival eventsl.

Did you realize that yesterday, Wednesday, at two minutes and three seconds after 1:00 in the morning, the time and date was 01:02:03 04/05/06? That won't ever happen again!

Tamela D?Amico?s (BFA 97) short film Volare will be playing at the Sarasota Film Festival in Sarasota, FL at the Regal Hollywood 20. It is with two other short films in a film block entitled Through My Eyes. The screening is free: Saturday, April 8, 2006, 9:45 AM. The Regal is at 1993 Main Street. The Telluride 2006 Student Symposium application time is here and the deadline to apply is April 29, 2006 (postmark deadline). The symposium programs are directed at college students who have a passion for cinema--no matter what their major. The TFF Symposium (now in it's 17th year) is a rigorous five-day program of film screenings and discussions. The student programs begin August 31 and end September 4. The film festival runs Sept. 1-4, 2006. If accepted students, must travel to Telluride at their own expense, but a $200 stipend check is paid to each student upon arrival. Copies of the entry forms with the rules and stipulations for the application package are in the main office at the front reception desk. We?ve had many students accepted to the Symposium in the past and they all say it is an amazing experience.
