From Joe Greco (BFA 94) “I received proclamations from the City of Hollywood Florida and Broward County declaring Oct 17th to be Joseph Greco appreciation day! “Canvas will be showing in Los Angeles, Phoenix and Fort Lauderdale...this weekend and will. open in a few more cities in the coming weeks, Boston is among the cities but awaiting release dates.”
From Jennifer Braddock (BFA 04) “I will be attending the National Multiple Sclerosis Society National Conference in Dallas this week - as a filmmaker. A few months ago, I was one of five individuals selected from the society to direct a film for the conference, and tell a story of how MS has affected my life. A small crew came to film me for a couple of days, followed me at work on set, and spent some time with me as we made a short documentary. The story centers around how I was diagnosed with MS during my junior year at FSU, but because of the supportive people in my life, especially at the film school, I was able to graduate on time; however, I waited a few years to start my career in the industry, and now, I won't let my disease stop me. The film will show on Friday, October 26 in a general session of over 1200 people, so I'm pretty excited! By the way, I just completed my third MS Bike tour – I climbed some mountains this past weekend on the way to Santa Barbara, and road through a northeastern storm and few weeks ago in Florida. Check me out: http://www.nationalmssociety.org/site/TR/?pg=personal&fr_id=5410&px=4250596 Thank you all!”

From Kate Guttman (BFA 97) “sesame street is looking for interns for the 2008 school year. 2008 is going to be a little wacky - we're shooting two seasons in one year; season 39 and season 40 [that's right, sesame street is launching into it's 40th year on the air]. our interns get experience in all aspects of children's television production: working with producers in the production offices, acting as runners and pa's on set, off set, for celebs and talent and muppets, working in post production and working with the child talent department. [not to mention being on sesame street. that's worth the price of admission, right?] i'd love to get some fsu students as interns - sesame street is truly a wonderful place to work and learn. any interested folks, please email ashmou younge at ashmou.younge@sesameworkshop.org
From Yvette Garcia (MFA 03) “I’m working at a company in the Philippines (see info below) as a screenwriting teacher and as a writer for the sister company of the school. They are hiring producing and directing teachers currently. Teaching is very rewarding and writing for money is not a bad gig either. I’m currently working on a pilot that if all goes well it will shoot at the end of the year. If you can, please post about the teaching openings... Info about the company and school can be found online www.bigfoot.com and click on the link for the school the International Academy of Film and Television. If anyone is interested, please email the school director at Ed at Eduardo Lejano <ed@filmschool.ph> He’s no Reb but... And if anyone wants a scoop from an alumna please feel free to have them e-mail me directly first. I’ve been here since August 12 and yes, everyone speaks English. The other mentors are mainly North Americans, except for a Peruvian, a German and myself ;o). Also, for anyone interested, they fly you out here and provide lodging. It’s dorm living but you have your own room/bathroom. The location is great since I’ve been able to travel around Southeast Asia and plan to continue to take advantage of the proximity to so many great countries. ivette@filmschool.ph

From the friend of a friend in San Francisco, re a FL Tampa Bay area project: “I am working with some fairly old, circa 1050's 16 mm footage. I am concerned about how to best handle it. It is in Florida and I am on my way to go set up a system to catalogue and label it. I need access to a flatbed scanner in the Tampa Bay Area and advice on how to proceed. I am working with a number of experts there but it just occurred to me, why not put this question out to the geniuses at SFindieclub on the off chance that someone may be from Florida or have some contacts there. Any help or suggestions on where to get the equipment and who to talk to would be greatly appreciated. I am also looking for film history experts in the area. Mari Eliza. mari_eliza_@yahoo.com”
