From Aloura Charles (BFA 97) “Tthe Tallahassee Film Festival has selected RESERVATIONS (which Aloura wrote and directed) as the closing night film on Saturday, May 17th. It will be in the afternoon (later) with a closing night Gala to follow directly after. I will be there and hope to see you all there... plus as many of your friends as possible!!! Let's get bums in those seats and support the festival and indie film! Please forward this to anyone you think may be interested. The film is not rated but probably would come in at a pg-13. I think it's fine for anyone over 13 years of age.
From Tom Cappello (BFA 95) “We are on our way back from a wonderful world premiere at the Tribeca Film Festival. We had 4 sold out screenings and standing ovations, so we feel we met the mark. And quite possibly exceeded it! It is with great pride that I invite all of you to come to our Atlanta premiere of our film, A POWERFUL NOISE, at the Atlanta History Center on May 22. The main character from Bosnia, Nada Markovic, will be in town for the event and she is someone you should definitely meet. Please come to support the movement of women’s empowerment and be inspired by these remarkable women. If you have trouble viewing this evite, please go to http://www.apowerfulnoise.org/evites/evite_atlanta_general.html <http://www.apowerfulnoise.org/evites/evite_atlanta_general.html> . From Tim Driscoll (BFA 05) “recently I directed a new five minute short film with my friends Mark Stevens and Mike De La Vina Jr. We've submitted it to a competition called the "The Doorpost". The fifteen films with the most votes and highest ranks get $10,000 and the opportunity to make a second film at a shot for $100,000. This is where we need your help. Please go to the link below, register to vote and then vote for our movie, "Space In The Room". It won't take more than ten minutes of your time and we'd be eternally grateful. Don't forget, we also need high marks in order to continue - so be biased. :-) I think you'll really enjoy the short regardless. Thank you to those who have already voted and feel free to forward this onto other friends and family who would like to support new filmmakers. Thank you all now for your time to watch the movie and vote for us.”

From Nicole Emanuele (BFA 07) A forward: “A Gotham-based mentoring program sponsored by former Sony Pictures Classics co-prexy Marcie Bloom will introduce college students to film distribution and marketing, among other aspects of the movie biz, Bloom announced Friday. The former Orion Classics and Sony Pictures Classics exec, who has been partially paralyzed since suffering a cerebral hemorrhage in 1996, has created the Marcie Bloom Fellowship in Film. Each year it will help up to four college seniors and recent graduates define their goals in screenwriting, production, distribution, advertising, marketing and publicity. Participating colleges in the first year are Wesleyan U., Columbia U. and the New School. Fellows will participate in monthly discussions with movie biz figures, with an eye to securing internships or entry-level positions at New York film companies and organizations. "I see this as a way of giving back to a community which has been extremely kind and generous to me, and supportive of me for a long time," Bloom said. Bloom started her career with the New York Film Festival and went on to work in publicity for Triumph Films and PMK Public Relations before joining Michael Barker and Tom Bernard at Orion Classics. Fromn Bob Clark (MFA 93) “I have an animated movie going into production in LA in July of this year, and am looking for some superstar new FSU people to possibly add to the staff. The pipeline is Flash-based; we also need great Photoshop and/or After Effects people. Also looking for a great conceptual artist to take the lead on backgrounds - ideally, this artist should bring skills with some or all of the software mentioned, but this is not a strict requirement. I'm happy to consider students fresh out of school with limited credits, they just need to demonstrate their work ethic and creative potential to myself and the other animators.
