Since the creation of the award in 1998, The FSU Film School has won the award twice, in 2000 with Jason Dotys', "Escape Back to the Movies, and in 2005 with Matthew Pope's, "The Line Starts Here". The Film School has also placed finalists every year since 1999.
The Coca-Cola Refreshing Filmmaker's Award program gives film students a bridge between the classroom and the working world of filmmaking.
Film students from thirteen prestigious film schools submit entries in the form of scripts and storyboards. Ten finalists are chosen from all the entries and each is given a production grant to produce his or her 50-second film (film stock donated by Kodak).
Of these finalists, one is selected as the winner by the Red Ribbon Panel of Judges. The winning film student is awarded $10,000 at ShoWest (the theater industry's largest trade show) and has his or her film shown on approximately 21,000 screens nationwide as a part of the Coca Cola pre-feature programming.
